Spice club

The impact of the SPICE CLUB of St. Agnes School over the years has been immense and we continue our mission to create a more sustainable, eco- friendly and a peace-loving environment within our school and community.
Animators:
Ms. Navneet Sarkar,
Mrs. Paromita Laheri, and
Mrs Rusoti Lodh Bhowmik.

HIGHLIGHTS OF THE YEAR:

OATH-TAKING CEREMONY:
On 24th June, the Spice Club members successfully conducted the oath-taking ceremony. The new President and Secretary were elected respectively from the active members (student body). This marked the first meeting of Spice Club (2023 session). The Spice Club badges were also handed over to the club members hoping for continued support and enthusiasm towards our mission.

VISIT TO THE KHARPAL VILLAGE:
The impact of our club’s activities extended beyond the school walls. On 4th August, the Spice Club members visited the Kharpal village to help those in distress. The students had prepared a song, a dance, and a prayer in English and Bengali for the villagers. A few games were also organized for them from which they could win several prizes. The Spice Club team along with the Kharpal animators donated food packets, jute bags, and other necessary items. This indeed inspired others, creating a ripple effect of change.

SWACCHATA PAKWADA WEEK:
The dedication and enthusiasm of the passionate members of the Spice Club have been instrumental in achieving the ‘SWACCHATA AWARENESS’ goal and driving a positive change.

ACTIVITIES :

  • Day 1 – SWACCHATA AWARENESS DAY
  • DAY 2 – HAND WASH DAYS
  • DAY 3 – PERSONAL HYGIENE DAYS

An experiment was conducted under the able guidance of the chemistry teacher, club animators, and members of the club to check whether the water supply of the school had an appropriate PH level for consumption or not. Through the experiment, we were able to gauge the level of satisfaction among our club members when it was proved that the water was best suited for drinking and other purposes. The ‘SWACCHATA PAKHWADA' activities were demonstrated to raise awareness regarding the importance of cleanliness, self-hygiene, washing of hands, and more. Students had prepared models, and props and even conducted mock acts to spread awareness for the same. A PowerPoint presentation was circulated in the classrooms of the high school to highlight the importance of this week. A model was also made to raise consciousness and was kept in the best-suited area of the school corridor for the students. At last, a survey was conducted to guide sick students to wear masks, and use hand wash and sanitizer.

OUTREACH PROGRAMME:
We are proud to be a part of a club whose mission is to value environmental stewardship and altruistic behaviour. The student volunteers along with the club animators visited ‘Gonopada Navjeevan Trust’. The students received a warm welcome from the Director and the students who resided there. Christmas carols, dances, and several games were organized for the residents of the Trust. Packets of necessary food and household items were distributed to the ‘Navjeevan Trust students.

Through teamwork and a shared passion, our club members have successfully demonstrated our commitment to making a positive impact in society.
